What is an elective prenatal 3D/4D Ultrasound?
This is an ultrasound that you elect to have to provide a positive bonding experience between family members and the unborn baby. Insurance companies do not cover the cost of this type of ultrasound. Also, this ultrasound is for entertainment purposes. A Diagnostic Ultrasound exam needs to be done to ruleout abnormalities and you must be under the care of a medical doctor prior to electing this service.
When is the best time to do a 3D/4D Ultrasound?
The best time to see your baby's face and features is between 26 and 32 weeks. If twin gestation, 26 to 30 weeks is recommended. If you are planning on coming in more than once, we recommend the first visit to take place between 18 and 25 weeks and the second visit between 28 and 32 weeks.
Can I bring my family and friends to enjoy my 3D/4D experience?
Yes. We encourage you to bring friends and family to experience the bonding relationship that you will have.
Are 3D/4D Ultrasounds safe for me and my unborn child?
Over 30 years of extensive studies have found that Ultrasound has not been shown to cause any harm to mother and baby. Routine scanning of all pregnancies is now normal throughout the United States. In 3D/4D scanning, the same intensity of ultrasound is used as with conventional 2D imaging.
Will my Ultrasound be performed by a licensed Sonographer?
All of our technicians have completed a diagnositc Ultrasound program and are licensed by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography or are registry eligible. Our sonographers also have completed extensive 3D/4D training to provide you the best possible pictures.
Why choose First Memories for your 3D/4D Ultrasound?
We believe that your 3D/4D ultrasound will be a fascinating bonding experience. We offer you a relaxed and family oriented atmosphere. Our technicians are friendly and knowledgable and will see that you are relaxed and comfortable as you will meet your unborn baby.
Will I always get a beautiful picture?
Not always. This type of bonding imaging is baby dependent. If the baby is persistently looking down, i.e. towards your spine, it may be difficult to see the baby's face. Also, it is important to remember that every baby scans differently, depending on position, gestational age, amount of amniotic fluid, and mother's condition. Everyone at First Memories promises to make every effort to obtain the best images or whatever parts of the baby that can be seen.
What if I am not satisfied with my images?
Customer satisfaction is our #1 goal. We cannot guarantee that your 3D Ultrasound pictures will turn out like those you see on our website, or elsewhere. There are many factors that make 3D/4D Ultrasound successful including the baby's position, placenta position, amount of amniotc fluid and mother's physical condition as noted above. If for any of these reasons we cannot obtain images that you are satisfied with during your first visit with us, we will bring you back, at no additional charge, within one week of your initial visit. If at our second attempt we still fail to obtain suitable images to complete the package you choose, we will refund your money-minus a $50.00 non-refundable fee for our time and materials used.
